The Roman Torque Cannon, also known as the Roman Crossbow, originated in the 3rd century BC and was widely used by the Roman army in field and siege warfare.
Originated in the 3rd century BC during the Roman period, it was widely used by the ancient Roman army in field and siege warfare. It utilizes torque as the power, the front end of the crossbow cannon uses two thick wooden sticks as the crossbow arms, and the thicker end of the arms is inserted into the sinews which are twisted around many times.
Twisting the bars stored mechanical energy, the crossbow arms were pulled back to counteract the mechanical energy, the trigger was pulled to release the mechanical energy, and the bowstring ejected the arrow when the crossbow arms rebounded.
